     The results are finally in. This year, 6 entries from the current batch of first year medical students have participated in the Cinemedicine 2014. Around 3,500 votes were made via online, which makes Cinemedicine 2013 still with the highest number of votes made during their own online poll (more than 9,000 votes!).      Five judges scored the videos according to the criteria. Their average scores were taken and then we all waited for the final results of the online poll to add the remaining points. After the poll closed, the entries were ranked according to the number of votes gained.      In keeping up with my personal tradition, I am now launching the Cinemedicine 2014. Cinemedicine is a collection of amateur films produced by medical students of the University of Saint La Salle College of Medicine under my Family and Community Medicine class. This is actually an offshoot of the tradition I also started with my pre-med students (Cinemanatomy).      The rules and criteria for the Cinemedicine 2014 have already been posted: 1. Each group must portray the impact of a specific illness or medical condition in a story. The group must show the impact of the illness or medical condition not only to the patient but to his/her immediate family. 2. The movie must run for 10 minutes only, excluding opening and closing credits. One point will be deducted for every 30-second excess.  3. The group can use any language for as long as the movie must be subtitled in English. Failure to include subtitles in English would incur a 5-point...

What's great with having Xbox360 is that you can get to watch the latest movie trailers from your Xbox, for as long as you have internet/wifi connection of course. Also, you would need an XBOX Live account as well which is easy to make and is free. Watching some of these movie trailers make me excited to see these movies in the big screen. I love watching movies and whether it's in the cinema or in DVD, movie-watching can be a huge experience for many. Here are just some of the movies that I am looking forward to watch later this year and next year. Victor Hugo's Les Miserables is a classic and I've been waiting for it's Broadway version to be adopted in the big screen. The fourth movie in the "Bourne" enterprise is now currently shooting scenes here in Manila. Rachel Weisz, the lead actress in the movie, arrived in Manila Sunday to shoot scenes in scattered places in Metro Manila. The MMDA has already scheduled rerouting schemes for traffic since some of the roads will be closed for the shooting of this Hollywood blockbuster. After watching the movie "In Time", I have learned so much from this almost philosophical movie. 1. Time is precious. I must not waste my time. 2. I must be generous with my time. 3. Some have more time than others. 4. People die long before their time would run out. 5. Every second counts. 6. Every body wants to live forever. 7. There is actually plenty of time for everyone. 8. The long weekend has given me an opportunity to spend it with the family. So we decided to watch a movie. Thank God the animated film Up of Disney (Pixar) was still on screen so I was able to bring the family to watch this movie. It has been a while since I watched a Disney film on screen. And it was truly a big adventure. I loved the movie. It is a movie fit not only for kids but even for adults, especially the child-like adults. It was really a movie for the entire family. Up is a fast-paced adventure film which fascinates the imagination of both young and old. Imagine a geriatric protagonist flying on a house being kept afloat by thousands of helium-filled balloons. His sidekick, a wanna-be boy scout (Wildlife Explorer) who only wanted to help the elderly to get promoted to Senior Explorer. And there is this talking dog which managed to fill the generation gap. I just saw the trailer of this upcoming doomsday movie, from the same guys who brought us Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow. 2012: The Movie is definitely an intriguing movie.
