Our celebrations of the Healthy Lifestyle Month this year ended last February 25, 2010 with our annual Mountain Marathon Open Competition and Interbarangay and Interschool Hataw Dance Contest. All 9 barangays participated in the interbarangay hataw (aerobics) dance competition. Congratulations to Brgy. Payauan for being the champion this year. Also congratulations to Brgy. Agboy for being the runner-up and Brgy. West for a close third place win. More pics to be posted

Tomorrow will be the launching of our new Healthy Lifestyle Program in Candoni: the iCANDONI - "The Candonian Lifestyle is a healthy lifestyle". Health is everyone's responsibility. It is nonetheless difficult to maintain our health. The rigors and discipline of healthy living can be frustrating at times. But we need to motivate ourselves to maintain our healthy lifestyle. It is difficult but it is not impossible. We can be healthy. So, the new shout out from Candoni is: "iCANbehealthy, iCANDONI!" The video featured here is the summary of the HL program of Candoni since I started working there as a doctor to the barrio. Tomorrow at 8:30 a.m., we will be having a motorcade from Brgy. Caningay to Barangay Banga and back to the Public Plaza for our launching of iCANDONI. We will also be launching our new HATAW steps and the official hataw music for our Interbarangay Hataw Dance Contest which will be held on February 25, 2010. So, let's paint the town red and c...

As promised, here are a few snapshots of the Opening Ceremonies of the Heart Month Celebrations of Candoni Rural Health Unit .

My own heart is overwhelmed as of this moment. When I was planning with my staff to go all the way in our celebration for the heart month this February, I was not feeling optimistic at first. There was little time and not enough resources to celebrate the Department of Health's Cardiovascular Diseases Prevention Month, better known as Heart Month. But I underestimated the creativity and enthusiasm of my staff, not to mention of the whole Local Government Unit. This morning, despite the imminent threat of heavy rains, we held our quarter-of-a-kilometer long caravan from Barangay Caningay to Barangay Haba and all the way to Barangay Banga. Everyone was out of the streets, with jackets and caps, to protect themselves from the cold weather. The Mayor, Celot Borromeo, was wearing his own red jacket, riding his private car giving out cut-out hearts with health tips for the bystanders.
