Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao

Image
I am currently writing this blog while staying in Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao, obviously here in Davao City. I am here for a 2-day orientation workshop for Zuellig Family Foundation together with municipal mayors and municipal health officers of at least 8 municipalities from the ARMM. A partnership is being forged between ZFF and ARMM with DOH-ARMM in order to improve health outcomes of ARMM municipalities. I have been to Davao many times in the past but it is my first time to stay here in the Waterfront Insular Hotel. The Waterfront Insular Hotel is actually 15 minutes away from the Davao International Airport. One can arrange a hotel van to pick you up at the airport. According to Hotel Information, the Waterfront Insular Hotel is comprised of at least 4 low-rise buildings of around 150 guest rooms and suites. In every guest room there is a flat screen TV with cable, a mini-bar and 24-hour room service. There are at least 50 standard rooms, 24 superior rooms, 75 deluxe rooms, ...

Baguio In Negros: Don Salvador Benedicto

Image
When one is visiting Negros Occidental, one must not forget to drop by Don Salvador Benedicto, a 4th class municipality located between the town of Murcia and the city of San Carlos. Don Salvador Benedicto, or DSB, is also known as the Summer Capital of Negros Occidental. Located on the hilly top on the side of Mt. Canlandog, DSB boasts of its green rural scenery and cool climate. Tourists who are traveling from Bacolod City to Cebu City can go via DSB and then catch the ferry in San Carlos City. Along the way, there are certain landmarks tourists can stop by and have their pictures taken. There is a look-out point where tourists can see the breathtaking view of the Malatan-og Falls. The road to DSB is lined with pine trees giving it a "Baguio-esque" feel. Another more recent landmark in DSB is the Lion's Look-out view. An image of a Lion and a small look-out platform was built by the Lion's Club, a socio-civic organization. To go to Don Salvador Be...

Lasallian Week: Makadto Kamo?

Image
On Sept 17-21, 2012, the University of Saint La Salle will be holding again its annual University Week (U-Week). It used to be U-Week but now I think they are calling it L-Week or Lasallian Week. The University Student Government is now trying its best to promote the week-long activity among the students with this prank-video:      The Ilonggo Phrase, "Makadto ka sa U-Week?" means "Are you going to the U-Week?" Watch what happens every time each person that was asked would say, "Huo" or "Yes".        For more details about the U-Week, you can visit the official Website of the University of Saint La Salle ( http://www.usls.edu.ph )      Here's the part two of the video Like it? Forest Water Park

Image
It can be difficult to find a good resort within Bacolod City to escape the summer heat. However, recently, Bacolod City has seen an increasing number of these water resorts which can become a family hang-out place both for kids and adults. A few months ago, I was able to bring my family to a place called Forest Water Park in Taculing, Bacolod City. This water resort is equipped with a pool and a play park where kids can enjoy. The Water Park is fast becoming a go-to resort within Bacolod City. Other than a swimming pool, the Water Park has a mini-zoo and a lazy river which meanders around a section of the Park. There are cottages and villas where families or groups can stay even for the night. Visitors or tourists who will be visiting Bacolod City for the Masskara Festival can drop by Forest Water Park and enjoy a little bit of sun and fun in the pool. Like it? Share it. Masskara Nights

Image
October is festivities month for Bacolod City. It is Masskara Month and this year, 2012, a huge influx of tourists will be expected to converge in the City of Smiles. A few years back, Masskara festival used to be a "daytime" festival but in the last five years, Masskara Festival has even invaded the warm nights of Bacolod's October. People can now witness what they call "Electric Masskara" which for me is nothing short than just a pale imitation of La Castellana's Bailes De Luces Festival. But I think tourists and locals don't mind this redundancy. After all, there are more than just the electric Masskara. Last year, Masskara Nights include a street party in Lacson Street, a night carnival and amusement park near Manokan Country at the Reclamation Area and display of artworks outside of the New Government Center. For families who wish to enjoy the Masskara Nights in a more wholesome way, then the Night Carnival and the New Government Center ...
