Planning A Date
What do you get when 3 guys decided to go have coffee in Trinoma and talk about their miserable love life? An impromptu planning of a surprise romantic dinner date, that's what you get.
It happened during the final day of our DTTB CME in Manila when my roommates and I decided to go malling in Trinoma during the afternoon break. My roommates were Tep and Prince, both then at the opposite end of the love-life spectrum. Both were madly in love, especially Tep, but unlike Tep, Prince was kinda on the rocks. Of course, standing right at the fulcrum was simple old me, the guru, the sage, the Zen master of life, love and whatever is in between.
So, we talked. Or mostly, it was Tep talking, trying to ask us what he can do so he can win the love of his life. Then smart Prince suddenly suggested a dinner date at the penthouse of the hotel where we were staying. Candle-light dinner, with roses, ambience music, nice food, wine... It was a perfect idea! So, the three of us went to our masterplan.
Step 1: The resources. We had to buy the scented candles of course, the flowers, wine and the food. It was supposed to be an after-dinner dinner date since that evening we would be attending the graduation rites of the DTTB. So, we suggested chocolates instead. After having coffee at Starbucks we went shopping.
Step 2: The Flowers. Prince met up with his girlfriend and brought us to a place near his house where we could buy cheap but beautiful roses. We were running late and it was almost an hour before the program would start. While Tep was having his flowers arranged, Prince decided to buy flowers for his gf who was waiting for us in the car as well.
Step 3: Stuff toys, etc. Tep had to drop buy SM Centerpoint just to buy a few add-ons to the presentation. Meantime, Prince and I went straight ahead to the hotel, put our plan into action and waited for Tep. Prince arranged with the reception people how to set-up the penthouse for a "special occasion". I was rehearsing my script, on how to convince the girl to come up with me to the penthouse where she would be greeted by a surprise.
Step 4: Piss of the girl. We had to make the girl furious. Earlier, Tep was deliberately not replying to her calls and texts. During the dinner, I was trying to ask her where Tep was and if they had a fight or something. She was kinda irritated already and furious. The plan was working.
Step 5: Arranging the Ambience. Tep borrowed my lap top where I already edited the playlist fit for the atmosphere. The flowers were already brought up the penthouse. The table was set, the candles were lit. Everything was perfect.
Step 6: Bringing the girl. Right after the program, I immediately signalled Tep to go up the penthouse. I then grabbed the girl, told her to follow because we had to talk about something very very important. The elevator was occupied and the line was long so we took the stairs and climbed 4 flights up. She was kinda curious and a bit nervous. I was telling her that it got something to do about her place of assignment. When we opened the penthouse, there was Tep waiting.
Step 7: The rest is history.
