The 1st RHU Mountain Marathon

We ran and ran, through the fog, over the mountains, leaping over mudholes, along ricefields, over bridges, and finally catching our breaths at the finish line. Later, winners were proclaimed with the mayor himself calling out the names of the champions and giving out the trophies and grocery goods. It was the first Candoni RHU Mountain Marathon and while the time for planning was short, it was a resounding success. A total of 137 participants ran from Brgy. Haba to the Public Plaza in Poblacion. Before the winners were given their prizes, the entire public, together with the officials, students of Quirico National High School, municipal employees and the barangay health workers and marathoners performed an aerobics dance. At the end of teh closing program, I was already beaming with joy, grinning from ear to ear. It was my first big project as MHO and DTTB. And through the grace of God, it was successful, thanks to the support of the LGU and the entire Health Department. More pics here.
