Confused? Follow Your Heart

I am writing this blog for a confused guy. You know who you are.

So you are confused? It is natural to be confused. Life is supposed to be confusing. If it wasn't then it would be boring, right? I know you wish to make decisions not only for yourself but for your family, for the people you love. That is okay. In fact, that is the most self-less thing you can do. Either way, whichever decision you will make, you will be thinking about your family. What matters most I think is your happiness. Are you happy with your decision? If you are not happy, then what's the use? Even if you feel that the advantages of your decision can outweigh the disadvantages it can bring, but for as long as you are not happy, then it must be the wrong decision. No right decision will lead us to loneliness. Precisely it is a right decision because it will lead you to your personal happiness. But then again, happiness is relative.

Some people are happy with a life that is maybe financially stable or fulfilling. Some people are happy with a life that is challenging and adventurous. Others are happy with a simple life. You cannot measure your happiness against the happiness of others. You simply can't. Their kind of happiness will always be different from yours.

In your struggle to find the right answers, bring close to mind the following things: that you are talented and whatever you choose to do, you can make it; you are a good person and nothing bad can come out of you, and even if you face the worse scenarios possible, you will manage to make good out of the bad things; you are capable of anything, so it does not matter which of the choices you will select, in the end, you will be happy for you have made a choice.

Whether you choose the left or the right, it does not really matter. They are both equally good and equally challenging. Each choice will have its own pros and cons. But like I said, it is not so much a matter of which one will give you much gains in the end. What matters most is that you have lived your life to the fullest and that you are happy. Happiness is everyone's goal. If you live your life to be happy, then you will be happy. I knew of no one who does not want to be happy. Live your life for you alone, and not for someone else's.

Someday you will have regrets. Someday you will be frustrated. But if you are happy with where you will be by that time, regrets and frustrations will be moot and academic, will only be an exercise of futility. Your life is not a race. It is not a matter of which one will finish first or come in last. Life is a journey and you control your own pace. You take the wheel and let your life run the way you would want it to be. If you follow a path you think is right, then take it leisurely and laboriously. Work hard for your dreams but never fail to appreciate them. Life is not a competition. Those who compete find joy that lasts only after a brief moment of victory. Those who journey however find joy that spans from the moment you started your trip to your destination. Life is wonderful to be considered a contest.

In the end you yourself will ask yourself, "Am I happy?" and if you can answer that with a resounding yes, then you have lived your life as God would have wanted you to live. For God wants nothing more from us but to be happy, in this life and the next.
