Preparing For A Big Medical Mission
This coming September 26, ABS-CBN Bantay Bata Foundation will be coming to Candoni to conduct for the first time ever in the municipality their Medical Mission and Feeding Activity. According to the letter addressed to the Mayor and our conversation during the teleconference with the Bantay Bata coordinators, they are expecting to serve around 800 persons, 400 for the feeding and 400 for the medical mission. This does not even include the Advocacy class they will be conducting during the same date, regarding Child Abuse. To prepare for this big event, all department heads had a meeting yesterday during which I was able to share the plans already made by the RHU and what we still needed. So, we are coordinating with the Local PNP for security, the Engineering Department for the Physical set-up and sound system, the Budget Office and the Treasurer's Office for our funds for the lunch and snacks of our guests, and the MSWD for helping us prepare for the things needed by the guests as well.
The Medical Mission will start at around 9 am, following a short program at the Plaza. I even suggested that the Dinagyaw Dancers of Candoni perform their dance for publicity purposes in order to promote Candoni as well. I do hope that in a short span of time, they can prepare well for this Saturday's affair.
Truly the bayanihan spirit in Candoni is alive and it was palpable during the departmental meeting. Everyone recognized the importance of this medical mission and how this rare opportunity can bring help to our indigent patients. Since we didn't have enough funds to prepare, each department head started pledging donations from food to supplies to augment our logistics for Saturday. Of course, the other municipal officials are also pledging their support.
Since this Saturday will also be World Heart Day, I told the department heads that the RHU staff will be wearing our Heart Month Shirt (red shirt) and I suggested that the municipal employees also wear their red shirts on that day. I don't know if we can still do a HATAW exercise in the morning, but I am planning to insert that in the program as well.
Thanks in advance to Bantay Bata Foundation for considering Candoni as one of their beneficiaries.
