Holler From Kabankalan

I am currently blogging from Kabankalan City, the nearest city to Candoni. The ride is an hour away from the mountains of Tablas valley, where Candoni is situated. It is a comforting sight to see some semblance of a highly urbanized area. In Candoni, I am surrounded by mountains. Heaps and heaps of mountains. There are a few rice fields and sugarcane plantations from time to time but the mountains never disappear. During one of my barangay visits, my tour guides pointed to me the locations of hidden caves and underground creeks meandering through the mountains. Candoni holds treasures close to her chest and most of which are yet to be discovered. And for the next two years, I am planning to trek these mountains, especially the caves. Call me Mountain Man after two years. So what am I doing here in Kabankalan at 8 in the morning blogging? AWOL?

Nope. I am here to encash some checks for some medical equipments my unit is planning to purchase. I still have some budget left especially for medical equipments so I decided to use the remaining budget to buy some much needed equipments. There is no bank in Candoni and the bank will open at around 9 a.m. later. And since a patient from Candoni is scheduled to have her follow-up check up with her specialist in Kabankalan, I left with the group which departed from Candoni at around 6:45 a.m. DOH representative Mrs. Manzano was with the party. The patient will also have her check up with her private physician at around 9 a.m. as well. So I left my cellphone number to our driver, told him I will be surfing the net nearby and asked him to SMS me if they are done. Besides, the internet cafe is a stone's throw away from the bank.

I almost wasn't able to encash these checks today. Yesterday I found out that the vouchers I instructed my encoder to print and submit to the Budget Officer were erroneous. The encoder printed the wrong vouchers. So we hurriedly printed a new set of vouchers in the afternoon, rushed to the Mayor's office, and have him sign our papers. It was a good thing that the Mayor and the Treasurer were all present yesterday. And since the treasurer and I are friends, the checks were immediately processed in less than an hour. I also had time to talk with the Mayor.

I was also told that my own monthly allowance was already encashed. So it is going to be a merry christmas indeed for me. Hehehe

Yesterday was bloodletting activity. Later in the afternoon is our Christmas Party for the entire Municipal Employees. My midwives yesterday took time out to come here in Kabankalan and brought groceries for the food which they will be preparing later this morning for our Christmas Party. Of course, we have to practice also for our Presentation for this afternoon's affair.

Last Saturday, my wife and I went to Glendale Homes Subdivision to look around. We are planning to buy a house for ourselves. My wife though found the place too far and the lot to small. So I am leaving the planning about the house to her.

By the way, paging DOH-Central Office: my medicines have not yet arrived. I do hope they will come either by last week of December or first week of January. My supplies are running low.
