BOoooooooring!

What a boring week this has been. This week is Patho week review and unfortunately, I am not getting the feel of this review. I don't know if it advantageous or not but the approach of our review is to go over old board exam questions and other review questions and discuss briefly the answers. Hopefully the questions we have reviewed would re-appear once again in this year's board exams but I honestly feel that the pace is quite slow for me. I think it is an advantage in some way considering that Pathology is quite a big topic and a neophyte like me would be at a lost and would not have a clue as to where to begin reviewing the topics. Somehow, at least, a nice review would give me some sort of guidance on how to conduct my own individual review.

So I skipped review yesterday, spent the entire day at home and watched the live telecast of the Miss Universe. Miss Japan won the crown, Miss Philippines did not make it in the top 15 but did manage to earn the Miss Photogenic title, Miss U.S.A. got booed and tripped on the catwalk and fell flat right on her behind. I don't know but personally, Miss Philippines is definitely eye candy but only to our own Philippine standards. Unfortunately, the candidates we send to represent our country usually fall short of the "world's standard" of beauty. For the record, the last time a Filipina won the coveted title was in 1973, when Margie Moran won the title in Greece. Gloria Diaz won it for us for the first time in 1969. For Southeast Asians, the last time the title was given to a Southeast Asian woman was in 1988 when Porntip Nakhirunkanok of Thailand won the crown. In the last 10 years of the pageant, Only 2 asians won the title (India in 2000 and now recently Japan). Latin America has 4 title holders (2 for Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago and Panama). The rest of the title holders were Caucasians (Australia, Canada, U.S.A., Russia) and only 1 from Africa (Botswana). For the other beauty pageant, the Miss World, well, no Filipina has ever won the crown yet. Complete list of title holders of the Miss Universe pageant are found here.

Anyway, kudos to our candidate Ana Theresa Licaros. She did us proud nonetheless.

P.S. Happy Birthday Papa!
