Universal Pictures’ remake of the classic King Kong is another spectacular spectacular to watch in movie theaters this Christmas Season. The story begins with gaudy, reckless documentary filmmaker, Carl Denham, sailing off to remote Skull Island to film his latest epic with leading lady, Ann Darrow. Native warriors kidnap Ann to use as a sacrifice as they summon "Kong". But instead of eating the human sacrifice, Kong rescues her. Kong is eventually taken back to New York where he searches high and low for Ann, eventually winding up at that familiar scene on top of the Empire State Building, facing off against a fleet of World War I fighter planes. Now I am almost skeptical with re-makes but this one is totally almost an original. Combined with great special effects and the genius of Peter Jackson, director of the trilogy The Lord of the Rings, King Kong makes himself Lord and King of Movies for 2005. New York Post calls it this year’s best movie. Critic Lou Lumenick writes i...

Lakeshore Entertainment’s and Sony Picture’s Exorcism of Emily Rose, a true-to-life story of a Catholic Priest accused of negligent homicide of Emily Rose, allegedly possessed by six demons and died after the failed exorcism, is another classic contribution to a short list of genuinely horrifying suspense movies of all time. The entire sequence of the movie comes in as flashbacks based on testimonies of witnesses closed to Emily Rose and The Ring have fans seen another great horror movie. Throughout the movie, the viewer is led to the terrifying tale of a college freshman girl, from the beginnings of her demonic possession up to her final visions and death. The tension and drama, between the prosecution and defense, even between Erin Brunner’s struggle to believe the supernatural, is palpable throughout the entire movie. What made it so u...

After watching The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the witch and the wardrobe, I knew i had to grab C.S. Lewis's book and read. I still am a Tolkienite and I will be eternally but Narnia has captured my heart. The symbolisms and metaphors portrayed in the movie and as intended by C.S. Lewis are so striking I had to re-read my catechism book and even Scripture itself. It is the best way of telling Jesus's story to children with very short attention span. Walt Disney’s adaptation of C.S. Lewis’ beloved Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe is perhaps its best movie release for this year. Washington Post gives it four stars and writes it as a "sterling version; well told, handsome, stirring and loads of fun.” It is a story of four siblings who traveled to the fantasy world of Narnia just when the kingdom was preparing for war between the forces of the evil Witch and the Lion Aslan. There was a prophecy in Narnia, that the true successors to the throne (wh...
