The Freudian Slip Of A Bacolodnon

When Janine Tugonon, Ms. Universe-Philippines, failed to win the crown and ended winning 1st runner up instead, many Filipino fans reacted negatively. They all thought that after so many years, the Philippines will take home the crown again. This year however, it was Ms. USA who won.  Even those who were not Filipinos reacted as well to the decision of the judges. Many believed that Janine was more deserving of the crown. Still, it was a high note for the Filipinos who are rabid fans of their modern-day heroes, athletes and beauty queens included. I may be bias when I say that I agree with Ms. Oprah Winfrey especially on what she said when asked to comment about the winners of the Ms. Universe 2011 pageant. "I have reservations with the results. If the only basis is the Q and A portion, after having been trimmed down to 5, Ms. Philippines deserved to win. What made her different from the rest is that she had no seconds to rethink of her answer as she had no interpreter to break the ice. The rest had their interpreters and having breaks on seconds to think about their answers. Hands down, Ms. Philippines answered straight to the point." – Oprah via NBC News.
