A Much Needed Break

We never had a family vacation for the last...hmmm, 28 years? So, when we decided to hit the beach last weekend, we could not let this opportunity pass us by. It was the only time I could pull out my parents from their "busy work" and since I was able to save some money, we decided to bring them to Boracay. It was my fourth personal visit to this famous island and it was their first time ever. Never mind that it was the start of the rainy season. The accommodations are cheap and the beach was not that crowded.

So, we had fun at the beach. We went island hopping and snorkelling. We had fun on the banana boat ride. My daughter was enjoying her special treatment on a speedboat. I wanted to parasail but my pockets were not deep enough. It was a relaxing moment. No thought of work. No thought of stress.

The waves were huge and it was my first time to see Boracay's waters come to life. The last time I was here was April of 2008 and the waters were still and quiet. Due to the monsoon winds, the waves in Boracay were huge, it reminded me of Goldcoast Australia.

When we went back to Bacolod, I had to take some phone calls about work, about problems at the office. This reminded me that I was about to re-enter my reality once again. But there are some good news at work as well. I am now Philhealth accredited, which is actually one step away from making my RHU accredited by Philhealth.

At the same time, I also enrolled myself at the University of the Philippines Open University (Distance Learning) where I will be taking up my Masters in Public Health. I already received a text that they will be sending my study guides and schedule of study sessions. Study sessions are scheduled once a month during Saturdays and since it is nearer, I chose UP Cebu College as my learning center. Now, I am no longer stagnant "educationally" if you know what I mean.

I have to thank my LGU for giving me this break from work. I am anticipating a toxic June and July and by August I will be already finishing my LGU clearance so that by September I will be ready by the time my contract ends. I am not sure whether my LGU will absorb me or not but whatever happens I am already making my own plans.

Hakuna Matata.
