Heart Month: Flashback

Image
Tomorrow will be the launching of our new Healthy Lifestyle Program in Candoni: the iCANDONI - "The Candonian Lifestyle is a healthy lifestyle". Health is everyone's responsibility. It is nonetheless difficult to maintain our health. The rigors and discipline of healthy living can be frustrating at times. But we need to motivate ourselves to maintain our healthy lifestyle. It is difficult but it is not impossible. We can be healthy. So, the new shout out from Candoni is: "iCANbehealthy, iCANDONI!" The video featured here is the summary of the HL program of Candoni since I started working there as a doctor to the barrio. Tomorrow at 8:30 a.m., we will be having a motorcade from Brgy. Caningay to Barangay Banga and back to the Public Plaza for our launching of iCANDONI. We will also be launching our new HATAW steps and the official hataw music for our Interbarangay Hataw Dance Contest which will be held on February 25, 2010. So, let's paint the town red and c...

Candonian Beauties

Image
During every festival in the Philippines, the town or city would always crown a Festival Queen. Candoni is no exception. For the third year since I began working as a DTTB, Candoni will be holding another Beauty Search dubbed as the Lin-ay sang Tabla Valley. Tabla Valley refers to the area surrounding Candoni. After all, the town is nestled right in the middle of the Tabla Valley located South of Negros Occidental. The beauty queens are sponsored by each municipal department. During the first year, RHU and Tourism teamed up and our candidate won 1st runner up. During the second year RHU and Treasurer's Office teamed up and our candidate won Ms. Tabla Valley! This year, RHU and Treasurer's Office are still teamed up but this time the Assessor's Office was attached to us. So the other day we accompanied our candidates to Villa Cornelia in Sipalay for the pictorials. The candidates flaunted themselves in their swim wear. After the solo shots, sponsoring departments had their p...

The (Not So) Typical Week in the RHU

Image
What a week. And I thought I could not finish the week due to my very tight schedule. All part of the MHO's work. Monday : Conducted a refresher's course with the staff on History Taking and Physical Examination. I had to refresh my nurses and midwives on the proper history taking and some basic maneuvers in physical examination. History taking and physical exam is not an exclusive domain of medical doctors. Any medical professional must need to know these skills. Tuesday : Despite the long line of patients seeking consultation, I was able to insert an important meeting with the Festival Committee regarding our budget proposals. I am the chairman of the First Aid committee. I was also happy to hear that my suggestion of including the BAHAY KUBO as an official symbol to the Dinagyaw Festival was taken by the Festival Committee. In fact, one of the special prizes for the Dinagyaw Streetdancing Competition will be Best in Bahay Kubo. I feel that I have contributed something to the...
