The 2008 In Summary For Candoni

Image
This coming Friday we will be facing the evaluators of our local health board. We will be showcasing to them the activities we have done during the last 11 months and how these programs have affected the health of our people in Candoni. Currently, I am now finalizing the "photo album" which we will be showing to our evaluators. These pictures, including resolutions and other documents, are our proof of having done these activities. But, whether we win or lose, it doesn't matter really. What matters is the impact we have made upon the people of Candoni and how the municipality of Candoni, under the administration of Mayor Borromeo, has regained its footing once again when it comes to health. Here's a look back at Candoni for the last 11 months in 2008: February Heart Month: Mountain Marathon Hataw Exercise: Heart Month Celebrations Garantisadong Pambata Round 1 Launching Local health board meeting with PHILHEALTH reps Meeting with Traditional Birth Attendants Newborn...

Planning The Holidays

I have yet to take my forced leave and I was also informed by a co-DTTB that my batch is entitled to a 2-day union leave as well. And the days in 2008 are already running out! Some of my fellow DTTBs are planning to go to Boracay during their forced leave. That is also a good idea. Unfortunately, everything is kind of hectic in my area especially in the last few weeks of the year. Next week will be our bloodletting activity (which is on a Monday) and we will also be having a C.H.A.R.T. assembly simultaneously. The following day, we will be having capability training for the staff, on Emergency Preparedness. Wednesday is, other than being Immunization Day, another day for capability training, this time on Newborn Screening. Thursday is also another hectic day. I have to attend a meeting at the Provincial health office in the morning, rush back to Kabankalan in the afternoon in time for the SNILHZ evaluation. Friday is D-Day for Candoni, since it will be our turn to be evaluated for our ...

Congratulations Batch 23 of the Doctors to the Barrio, for surviving your first year as DTTB's. In our celebration, let us remember the friends who have left a great impression in our hearts and minds. Although they have quit the program, they will still remain our ABYAN!

Hectic Days Are Here Again

Monday began what seemed to be a hectic week for me in Candoni. It was partly my fault. When I was asked by my DRCO head if I wanted to join Candoni in the evaluation for the nationwide search for outstanding local health board, I said, "yes". It was only later that I realize the "mess" I placed myself into. We had to prepare for the evaluators, who were scheduled to come next Friday already! We had to transfer all our LHB minutes to the computer and have them printed out. And then we have to also search and compile our LHB resolutions, some of them were yet to be signed by some of the members as well. Of course, I had to "toxify" the SB for health, asking her for a list of municipal ordinances that were health related since the time the Mayor assumed his position in Candoni. I have to make the powerpoint presentation and compile all of our activities for the year. I am not so sure if we can get the Most Outstanding LHB, but we are hoping to get at least t...
