Holler in Iloilo

Image
WVMC è no diverso dal nostro CLMMRH.

Are You Happy?

Image
Someone asked me today, "Are you happy?" Before I could answer a yes or no, I stopped to think about myself and my life. The answer to the question lies on how I see myself and my life at this moment in time. I see myself as a young father and while I remain imperfect, I continue to strive to be a good father. I see myself as a young husband and like my being an imperfect father, I desire to be always a loving husband, faithful and driven to provide that quality life for my young family. I see myself as a young doctor, motivated not just to earn a living, but moreso to make a difference. I have always grumbled against a system which I see so flawed and so ego-centric and I have seen myself become an idealistic fool to a disgruntled hardcore. But the opportunity to change the system is to stay in the system and work from within, to reach the bright surface from the deep and not so much to dive into the dark abyss. I see myself as a human being, inspired with a mission. I am no...

Confused? Follow Your Heart

Image
I am writing this blog for a confused guy. You know who you are. So you are confused? It is natural to be confused. Life is supposed to be confusing. If it wasn't then it would be boring, right? I know you wish to make decisions not only for yourself but for your family, for the people you love. That is okay. In fact, that is the most self-less thing you can do. Either way, whichever decision you will make, you will be thinking about your family. What matters most I think is your happiness. Are you happy with your decision? If you are not happy, then what's the use? Even if you feel that the advantages of your decision can outweigh the disadvantages it can bring, but for as long as you are not happy, then it must be the wrong decision. No right decision will lead us to loneliness. Precisely it is a right decision because it will lead you to your personal happiness. But then again, happiness is relative. Some people are happy with a life that is maybe financially stable or fulfi...

If You Can Make It There, You Can Make It Anywhere

Image
This morning I touched down at the Bacolod Airport straight from Manila. I just came from the capital of the Philippines to take the DOH-HHRDB DTTB (damo initials, no?)exams and interview. With me were 2 familiar people, Celna and Roumayne. There were 3 other more, 1 from Iloilo who was also Roumayne's classmate, 1 from NCR and 1 from Eastern Samar. The exams were of two sets: Essay, with 5 cases/situations and Technical Exams, composed largely of Math, English, and Constitution. The interview which followed right after lunch break was more of questions probing on personal experiences, especially during one's educational years. We were told that by Friday or late Monday next week, we will be informed if we qualify for the DTTB program. Right after strolling the mall of asia the other day, my wife's uncle fetched me and brought me first to the august hall of the Senate of the Republic. I was very excited because it would be my first time to step inside a building which house...

Leaving Messages From Manila

Image
I am now in Manila. After claiming my PRC card and certificate in Cebu City, I hurriedly went to Mactan to catch my 11:20 flight to Manila. I touched down in NAIA at around 1:30 p.m. Now I am doing some R&R at SM Mall of Asia. I almost did not make it to my bus for Cebu last night. When I arrived at the terminal the two buses scheduled to leave for Cebu were fully booked! I was enlisted as a chance passenger. Luckily I was able to make it. I was in bus 365 with half of the passengers religious pilgrims on their way back to Cebu I guess. I later found out they were delegates to the 4th national covention of devotees to the Senior Sto. Niño. The convention was held in Bacolod. I planned to catch a few winks at the barge from Danao, Escalante to Cebu island but even the air-conditioned deck was filled with travelers. I had to sleep seated upright, with arms fully embracing my only possession: a knapsack of clothes and important documents. It was raining by the time I arrived at Cebu C...

Jetsetting: Glimpse of Things To Come?

I am currently in an internet cafe along La Salle Avenue. I am waiting for the last trip to Cebu City. Yes, I am on my way once more to Cebu City to claim once and for all my PRC license and certificate. I will be taking the bus which is estimated to reach Cebu at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow Monday. I will be having a quick breakfast, then proceed to PRC Office, where I hope I could get my PRC card within an hour. I will then travel to Mactan International Airport to catch a flight bound for Manila. Yes, tomorrow, I will be leaving for Manila from Cebu. I haven't been to Manila for a long time. The last time was when I went to Australia in 1997. During college though we had to drop by Manila for a flight connection from Davao, on the way home to Bacolod, but we hardly left the Domestic Airport. I was doing some work for the CD-team of the yearbook. I am going to Manila because I am about to take the exams for the Doctor to the barrio program of the Department of Health. I submitted my requi...

I am into a few simple projects the past few days. I am hosting a Hall of Famed Blogs, courtesy of Squidoo.com . Do you wish to promote your blog and increase your traffic? Be part of the hall of famed blogs. Click on this link here to check out the rules. It has just opened so nominations are now accepted. Another project is the Blog 4 Burma. Considering the horrifying events occuring in Burma today, I have decided to put up a blog for the Burmese people and I am encouraging other bloggers to do the same. The Blog 4 Burma post is in my macellarius blog . This aim really is to increase awareness and provide a platform for our Burmese friends who cannot blog from inside Myanmar due to constraints implemented by their wicked government. It is my only way of support for Burma and its Burmese people. Anyway, the rain has stopped and the sun is out but according to the news, the weather will turn ugly by the next few days. Some tropical depressions are spotted east of the country, which me...
